Open My Eyes, That I May See
words and music by Clara H. Scott
Open my eyes that I may see glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free:
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready my God Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Open my ears that I may hear voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear:
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready my God Thy will to see; Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Open my mouth, and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare Love with Thy children, thus to share:
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready my God Thy will to see; Open my eyes illumine me, Spirit divine.
“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Psalm 119:18
“Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart.” Psalm 119:34
Another one of those good old hymns rarely heard anymore, but so full of truth. I’ve got the tune running through my head now, Joy!! I love your beach photos. Are you the photographer in your family? Missed you and Bobby in class today.
Hi Donna. yes photography has become one of my favorite hobbies. I love taking pictures of the grandchildren and God’s beautiful world. Blessings to you,
Joy
Oh, yes, Open my Eyes! I agree – those old hymns are beautiful verses of faith! Your photos are lovely – is someone actually playing bagpipes? How cool is that! Have a blessed week!
Thank you and yes, a man came out on the beach and walked out on the sandbar just when the sun was setting on Easter Sunday and began playing Amazing Grace. Everyone on the beach stopped what they were doing, even the children stopped playing and listened. It was so beautiful and such a wonderful praise to God’s faithfulness. To God be all the glory.

oh, another favorite hymn that I hardly ever hear any more but so full of truth and beauty…thank you for bringing it to my mind and heart..Open is my 2012 word, and how I need Him to open my eyes to see, and my ears to hear…blessings and hugs to you, Joy 🙂
I am going to be praying the words of the beautiful hymn every day for the next couple of weeks and I will include you in my prayers. That we may be open to the truth and that God will illumine us to know His will and walk in a way that is pleasing to Him.. You bless my heart with your friendship.

It’s been too long since I’ve pondered this hymn. Thank you!
I’m stuck on:
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear:
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready my God Thy will to see…..
will be thinking about that ….praying it with you today. Love and hugs to you!
The wave notes of His grace quiet my spirit and fill me with peace as I seek His will for my life. To walk with Him, holding His hand in all the seasons of life. What could give greater joy You are a blessing Nikki, and thank you for praying with me today.
